Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (Sreda) has tied up with Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority(BEZA) to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN) and all other economic zones across the country.
The two organisations on Wednesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard at BEZA office in the city.
As per the agreement, the two organisations will work jointly to develop solutions addressing challenges to ensure renewable energy and energy efficiency measures at the BSMSN and other economic zones under BEZA.
The two sides will facilitate cooperation between them in different areas of renewable energy including in solar energy, wind power plant, waste to energy, waste heat recovery and industrial energy management system.
Under the MoU, the two organisations will also work for policy intervention on renewable energy and energy efficiency measures in BSMSN master plan, project identification with most suitable businesses model considering the highest benefits of BEZA.
Providing technical support like project planning, feasibility study bankable data collection maintaining international standard, system design, design approval, budgeting, standardisation of equipment and support to attract financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency measures are also included in the bilateral deal.
BEZA general manager Mohammad Hasan Arif and Sreda secretary Niaz Rahman signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisation while BEZA executive chairman Paban Chowdhury and Sreda chairman Mohammad Alauddin were present on the occasion.
