A Validation Workshop on the Roadmap for Developing a Skilled Workforce in Energy Efficiency and Grid-connected Renewable Energy for Bangladesh (up to 2040) was held on October 16, 2025 (Thursday) at the Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka. The workshop was commissioned by GIZ in collaboration with the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA). The Skills4SE project is currently developing a National Roadmap to build a skilled workforce for the Energy Efficiency and Grid-connected Renewable Energy.

Mr. Muzaffar Ahmed, Chairman (Grade-1) of SREDA, attended the event as Chief Guest. Mr. Muhammad Khalequzzaman, Joint Secretary of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Wing, Power Division, was present as a Special Guest, while Mr. Ratan Kumar Ghosh, Member (Joint Secretary) of Energy Efficiency & Conservation at SREDA, chaired the workshop.

Representatives from various government bodies, private sector entities, academia, and industries participated in the workshop.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Muzaffar Ahmed, highlighted in the workshop that, as individuals, we may not be able to generate even a single unit of electricity, but through conservation, we can effectively save multiple units. He also added that saving just one unit (kWh) of electricity at the consumer end can prevent the need to generate approximately three units at the power plant. Every unit of electricity we save reduces costs, fuel use, and emissions.
